2026 was a difficult drought year for the Pinantan Lake community and our property!
With the lake at very low levels, many of our neighbors water wells running dry, and our system being strained with water usage, we have had to implement many water conserving measures for now and into the future to preserve our natural resource as best as possible.
Conservation measures include but are not limited to:
In 2027 and beyond: We will no longer be providing linens, blankets or towels in our cabins to reduce the water strain of laundry on our well. Anyone who has booked for 2027 (prior to Sept 16/2026) will be given a discount for now having to provide their own linens. Our prices have also been adjusted to reflect this.
Why did we choose to do this? We opted out of increasing our prices to account for having the laundry washed & transported to/from Kamloops. Many resorts like ours also do not include linens with their rentals.
Asking guests to be responsible water users- take shorter showers, not run taps endlessly while washing dishes, hands and teeth, flushing toilets less often..
Requiring all RV’s to have working bathrooms/showers in their RV unit. We have done this as we may have to intermittently close our showers and bathrooms throughout the season due to fluctuating water levels provided to our system. RV’s are actually much more conservative with water & the hot water tanks are small, which in turn reduces the length of showers and amount of water used.
The RV park will no longer have guest laundry facilities. There is a laundromat at the general store not far away!
Using alternative sources for irrigation and letting our grass go dormant through the hot months.
Planting drought tolerant plants, and using drought resistant grasses.
We hope that with strong conservation measures and a winter or two of good snowpack/snowfall, our community’s water table can be restored.
We understand this is not an ideal situation, and changes can be difficult, especially with something we often take for granted such as water, but we hope all of our guests can be understanding and patient with our new normal around the resort.
